Diurnal temperature range in winter wheat–growing regions of China: CMIP6 model evaluation and comparison

Diurnal temperature range (DTR) is an important meteorological component affecting the yield and protein content of winter wheat. The accuracy climate model simulations DTR will directly affect prediction wheat quality. Previous evaluations for worldwide or nationwide cannot answer which suitable estimation yield. We evaluated ability coupled intercomparison project phase 6 (CMIP6) models to simulate in wheat–growing regions China using CN05 observations. root mean square error (RMSE) interannual variability skill score (IVS) were used quantitatively evaluate simulating spatial temporal characteristics, comprehensive rating index (CRI) was determine most results showed that CMIP6 can reproduce regions. BCC-CSM2-MR season more consistent with EC-Earth3-Veg simulated climatological best growing (RMSE = 0.848). Meanwhile, evaluation not applicable regions, annual a substitute DTR.
